Love Reincarnated by C. Sreedharan deals with the theme of reincarnation. Ravi, Shanti, and their teenage daughter Devi come to live in the small town of Chennai. Across the street lives Hari, an elderly person. Devi is suffering from a rare condition that causes a lack of interest in everything. They start visiting the nearby Sri Krishna temple and things start changing slowly for Devi. There are signs of improvement and they praise the Lord. Devi soon starts becoming attached to Hari and looks forward to being in his company all the time. They put it down to infatuation but Devi is deeply in love with Hari.
It is an interesting theme based on the Hindu belief of reincarnation. Hindus believe that only the body dies and the soul moves on and reincarnates again. But the soul always seeks its loved ones, whatever form it takes on in this new life. In this story, it is strange that someone as young as Devi can fall in love with an old man. Finally, they realize that they must have been lovers in a previous life. There is a lot of intrigue, mystery, and also suspense while trying to figure out the young Devi's liking for Hari.
Love Reincarnated reflects the distinct voice of the writer. It speaks about the Hindu beliefs of afterlife and reincarnation. It also speaks about the power of love and how you can always be united with the ones you love, no matter how many lives you live.
