Author Biography

I am a mom of two young adults now and a labradoodle. I work several different jobs that keep me hopping all over the place. As a hairstylist and banquet server I was out of a job during the pandemic so I decided to finally publish my children’s story that I wrote over twelve years ago for my son. I found out I really like writing children’s books. So now I am determined to continue this series for all the adventurous kids out there.

Friendship and sleuthing don’t always mix. But, when the special task force called Finders calls on Logan to once again use his unique finding abilities to locate the Mayor’s missing doodle (a Labrador retriever, poodle mix, or a Labradoodle), Logan teams up with his friend, Emily, to search the town. Only, in spite of the special tools provided by Finders, like sunglasses that can project a heat signature and bacon flavored gum to make your breath smell like bacon up to ten feet away (to attract a dog, hopefully the missing doodle), their friendship faces disagreements which jeopardize the mission. Will they find the doodle? More important, can they restore their friendship once this is resolved?

D.C. Spaar’s early chapter book mystery, Logan and Emily Files: The Disappearing Doodle, is another book in the Logan Scott Files mystery series. The protagonist, a young boy with amazing finding abilities, is part of a secret agency called Finders that is called upon to find missing things, pets and people. The plot follows young Logan’s assignment as he uses multiple, ingenious and creative devices (all developed by the Finders’ agents) to search the town for the missing doodle. The main character is a typical early teen who finds himself up against the usual teen issues, including friendships. His cohort, Emily, presents a side plot with a conflict in ideas and solutions, which climaxes with Logan losing his temper, actually yelling at her to “stop being, being you” and coming close to parting ways. This is typical early teen friendship dynamics which young readers will instantly relate to. The plot moves quickly with lots of excitement and drama and also lots of humor as Logan has a way with puns and joking around. The book is great for young readers.
