Ling & Ting Share A Birthday is written by Grace Lin. This book is creatively written with fun, exciting characters, and containing a realistic story plot. Ling and Ting are twins, and although they look very much alike, sometimes they are very different. Being different and not the same sometimes bothers them, as they like to share everything, from toys, food, clothes, and interests. When Ling and Ting share a birthday and the gifts and food aren't the same, they decided to do their best to make each other happy and share.

Grace Lin has written a fantastic story conveying a message that although the twins are the same in looks, they are different people. At the time, they share a lot of their daily life with each other. Like non-twinned siblings, when one is sad, most often the other wants them to have what they have, so they share to make the sibling happy, and equal.

The relation of this book's plot and my own life are great. I have a twin sister and can relate to most everything within the pages. Reading this book brought back scenarios in my own life in which my twin sister and I did many of the same things as the characters. I love the "old school outfits" illustrated on the twin girls that gave the book a homier, friendly appeal. It is important to know that although twins look alike and do like to share the same things in life, they are individuals and have their own personalities. Sharing with siblings and family is a great act of kindness that can be taught to all children, not just twins. A wonderful read.
