This book is inspired by the classic nursey rhyme, Jack Sprat, as well as the local childcare facility that works really hard to teach children about healthy eating. This book was an idea to assist in that genre to teach children about healthy eating in a whimsical, colourful manner.

Jack Sprat's Wife by Terry Kelleher is an exciting new take on a classic nursery rhyme. The book follows Jack Sprat and his wife, Jane. Jack eats healthy foods, and is a very healthy person, but Jane eats mostly unhealthy foods. One day Jack asked Jane if she would like to go on a picnic with him to the beach. Jane would like to, but she couldn't even bend down far enough to put on her shoes. Jack could see that a change needed to be made to Jane's lifestyle. Jack takes her to the doctor, and the doctor teaches her the importance of eating healthy foods, and what she should eat. Will Jane be able to stop eating unhealthy foods?
I really enjoyed reading Jack Sprat's Wife by Terry Kelleher. The book is very realistic, because many people are like Jane and, just like Jane, they don't want to eat healthy foods. The book teaches the importance of eating healthily in a fun way. The book is very well written, and the rhyming is very good. The book is inspirational, because it shows that anyone can make a change to their lifestyle. The illustrations are very well drawn, and help to depict each scene. The pictures are also very colourful. I liked that at the back of the book it shows a picture of the food pyramid. I liked how the author used a well known nursery rhyme to teach an important lesson. I would definitely recommend this book to young readers.
