Her Side of the Story by Dominique Wright follows the life of Catherine de Medici, who, after losing her parents, is married to Prince Henry of France. Catherine faces the challenges of the royal court, including Prince Henry's infatuation with Lady Diane. Her friendship with her loyal guard, Devon, deepens into a secret relationship. As Catherine deals with rumors and tensions at court, she finds herself in a complex situation, trying to balance her love life with her role as a queen and as a mother and the pursuit of peace in her royal life. The novel also includes many facets of spiritualism and the metaphysical, which Wright describes from first-hand experience in a personal connection to Catherine.
I was drawn to Her Side of the Story: A Psychically Channeled Untold Novel of Catherine de Medici by Dominique Wright because I found the reasoning behind why it was written to be fascinating. I have a sister who is a hypnotherapist, and while I have heard a lot about past life regression, Wright is the first person I have ever come across who has discovered she was someone influential on a global scale. The result is a very well-executed genre-bending novel where the lines between history, fiction, metaphysics, and Wright's own truth from her experience weave together. From a literary standpoint, the book is cleanly written and accessible. The scope is huge considering it moves through almost the entire span of Catherine's life, but in the context of it being one part of an entire journey of reincarnation, it is a mere moment—but a strong one, to be certain. Very highly recommended.
