The epic tale continues in The Tempests of Time: Ages of Malice by Lloyd Jeffries as Emery and Rhyme each try to find a way to put a stop to Cain and the unending madness he has unleashed on the world. But when things go awry and twisted prophecies start to become a reality can the duo overcome the cruel mistress that is fate? Can they put an end to Cain’s evil reign and find their way back to one another? Having all the events of the previous books converge and essentially seeing the final stage set up was something I never could have anticipated. Jeffries truly outdid himself with this book.

The Tempests of Time: Ages of Malice by Lloyd Jeffries holds its own even against the first book. The drama, the chaos, and the intrigue were all at their peak and I found myself hanging onto every page. I also really loved Emery giving the reader little flashbacks and a comical-style summary of the events of the previous books. I found the breaking of the fourth wall to be so entertaining and a nice touch between the seriousness of the rest of the novel. Overall, the writing was as amazing as always, the plot was thrilling, and the pacing of this book was steady yet just fast enough so that it didn’t drag on too long. Jeffries really has a way of blending the right elements into his books and producing a masterpiece at the end of it all. This book was absolutely amazing and I’m so glad to have read this series.

The Tempests of Time is the fourth book in the Ages of Malice series by author Lloyd Jeffries. The trials and tribulations of Emery Merrick continue as he faces new challenges he never thought he would. Emery is dragged through Hell itself as he is forced to confront terrifying demons, shocking truths, and a nightmarish reality about God, Satan, and humanity’s fate. Meanwhile, Rhyme Carter, desperate and furious, brings the fight to Cain, the Antichrist, only to realize that his power and foresight are beyond even her worst fears. As the apocalypse unfolds, unexpected prophecies emerge, and the lines between good and evil blur. Emery faces a devastating choice: risk his soul to save the woman he loves or be forever adrift in the chaos. What will he choose? Should he salvage his life or sacrifice it all for love?

Author Lloyd Jeffries did a fantastic job of creating the perfect blend of fantasy, horror, and theological fiction. Every single moment in the story was entertaining and engrossing. I was fully immersed and holding my breath at certain points. The journey through Hell was both terrifying and thought-provoking, exploring the depths of human darkness and the nature of good and evil. I loved the conflict between Rhyme and Cain and how it added a layer of intense action and suspense to the narrative. However, the star of the novel was Emery. I loved how the author explored Emery’s emotions, his inner turmoil, and the impact of the choices he had to make. The author's writing style is perfect for the story and how it unfolds every little twist. I loved how the fast pace kept the momentum until the very end. The Tempests of Time is an entertaining story that I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend!

The Tempests of Time by Lloyd Jeffries is an exciting new addition to the Ages of Malice series. The story follows Emery Merrick as he faces terrifying demons and big questions about life, mixing supernatural horror, stories from the Bible, and a fight to save the world. It also focuses on Rhyme Carter's battle against Cain, the Antichrist. Jeffries creates a world full of tension and interesting ideas about religion, making readers think about destiny and choice. The beautiful writing and surprising twists keep readers excited. The book is unique in how it handles religious ideas and the supernatural, while also making readers really care about the characters during the conflicts.

Author Lloyd Jeffries excels at creating an eerie feeling that pulls readers into his world of supernatural battles and tough choices. The characters Emery and Rhyme feel real, and you can understand how they change when facing hard times. The story keeps surprising readers while still making sense, and I couldn't stop reading. I like how Jeffries adds deep questions about faith and destiny into an exciting story. The author is excellent at mixing big blockbuster scenes that catch your imagination with more dramatic dialogue where characters grow and think about important issues. When I reached the last few chapters I didn’t want the book to end. I was amazed at how exciting it stayed even when wrapping up important storylines and conversations about faith. Overall, The Tempests of Time is a recommended read for everyone who enjoys intelligent supernatural stories that make them think.

The Tempests of Time is the fourth novel in the Ages of Malice series. Lloyd Jeffries continues the adventures, trials, tribulations, lives, and deaths of an extraordinary group of characters, including the good, the bad, the undead, and the immortal, established in the first two novels, A Portion of Malice and A Measure of Rhyme. Although I somehow missed book three, Embers of Shadow, the leading characters in the previous books were immediately familiar to me and will be to readers of the last three novels. The Tempests of Time blends biblically historical and mythological tales, events, and characters in a fast-paced, enthralling good versus evil and mortal versus immortal thriller.

In The Tempests of Time, Lloyd Jeffries continues what I consider a most unusual but thoroughly entertaining writing style that sometimes reads like philosophical poetry in prose while incorporating a machinegun-like staccato. This style continues throughout the story and bypasses the lengthy paragraphs used by other authors, which eat up dozens of words before getting to the point of the action. Jeffries creates a never-want-to-stop read with fantastical, biblical, and immortal characters Cain and Longinus or the inimitable Rhyme, whom I once described (in a previous review) as a woman similar to Katniss of Hunger Games fame. Rhyme's multiple skills pose a serious threat to Cain's plans of domination and immortality. The minor cliffhangers at the end of the previous books in the series are quickly and easily overcome as Jeffries incorporates a review of previous characters and plotlines entwined in the continuing story.

In the sweeping Ages of Malice series by Lloyd Jeffries, and the leadup to book four, The Tempests of Time, reporter Emery Merrick is given a second chance at life and meets Thaddeus Drake—actually Cain, the first murderer. Tasked with writing Cain’s biography, Emery discovers his immortality and ancient ties, facing deadly consequences. Emotionally broken, he watches his former love, Rhyme, marry Cain. Rhyme fights to escape Cain’s grasp while Emery is drawn into a war with the Antichrist as humanity teeters on the brink of destruction. Now, dragged through Hell itself, Emery Merrick confronts terrifying demons and shocking details about God, Satan, and humanity’s fate. Meanwhile, Rhyme Carter wages war against Cain, but the Antichrist’s power grows as prophecy unravels in unpredictable, catastrophic ways. "Emery is a moth to Rhyme’s flame. A cycle unbroken. A story retold a thousand times."

Lloyd Jeffries' The Tempests of Time is another fantastically thoughtful and atmospheric addition to a series I have read from book one, and that continues to go from strength to strength. Jeffries' writing is so sharp that even the antagonists, Cain and Iblis, stand out as intelligent and charismatic figures who defy the usual villainous stereotypes. Iblis, in particular, exudes a chilling charm and his playful yet menacing demeanor is hard to resist. The continued incorporation of ideas such as fate versus free will, immortality, and the nature of suffering elevates the work, offering an intelligent perspective on morality, especially with the surprising choice of God as a female entity. I love the relationship between Emery and Rhyme, shaped by a power struggle that adds to their interactions. Overall, Jeffries delivers another home run for his legion of fans in this fourth installment. Very highly recommended.
