Have a THINK: The Practical Guide to Evidence-based HR by Bitasta Roy Mehta is a book for business people, leaders, human resource generalists and human resource specialists that talks about evidence-based HR as a decision-making process, combining critical thinking with use of the best available scientific evidence and business information. While there are many textbooks and other business books about Human Resources practices, Mehta takes a more holistic approach using the acronym THINK: T - is it True, H - is it Helpful, I - is it Inspiring, N - is it Needed, K - is it Kind? Mehta uses her experience working for major corporations to help readers learn about the more human approach to Human Resources.
Not quite a textbook, not quite a self-help book, Have a THINK is a blend of approaches to guide businesses and those working in human resource functions. I liked the formatting of how the information was presented, breaking it down into easily digestible pieces and then offering points for reflection and application. Recruitment, development, and workforce planning are presented in a different light. Also included are Mehta's personal experiences, case studies, and lessons to use for your own purposes. This book is a good synthesis of theory and practical application of the human resource component of a corporation, and how to utilize an evidence-based approach to achieve organizational goals and successful outcomes for both employers and employees.
