Fantasies of My Best Friend's Dad is a spicy romance story set in a snow-covered Tuscany, Italy. Written by Lavender Skye, the book follows two people coming from wildly contrasting backgrounds and at different stages of their lives, finding themselves stuck in a snowstorm at a remote cabin in Tuscany. Emmy is an art history student who is angry at her best friend Lyla for ditching her at the airport to be with her new boyfriend in Paris. As fate would have it, Lyla's father Nathan, a billionaire banker, is keeping Emmy company. But now, neither can deny their irresistible mutual attraction and after a while, they give in to their desires. Soon, they realize that what they thought was a casual fling was turning into something more as they develop deeper feelings for each other.
If Fifty Shades of Grey is one of your favorite contemporary romance novels, you will have a blast with Fantasies of My Best Friend's Dad. Author Lavender Skye wastes no time in putting the reader into the scheme of things, setting the tone from the first page while introducing the two main characters. The narrative is crisp and concise, and you should easily be able to read the book in one sitting. Emmy and Nathan have palpable chemistry, and each scene and dialogue featuring the two together is laced with sexual tension and intrigue. Skye manages to flesh out the two characters in a very short space of time. All in all, I found the book very entertaining and feel contemporary romance readers will not want to miss out on this one.
