Falling is a work of fiction in the interpersonal drama, mystery/suspense, and dark thriller fiction sub-genres, and was penned by author Marc Burgio. An epic-length novel that spans a fantastic tragic and tangled tale, this is for adult readers owing to the presence of explicit language, triggering content in relation to abuse and torture, graphic violence, and strong sexual content. A dark tale about coming of age and traveling through the generations with the scars which we carry from our past, this multi-generational story begins with showstopping murder confessions, and it only gets darker, more bizarre, and more terrifyingly haunting from thereon in.
Author Marc Burgio has created what felt like an entire season of a really dark series of fiction episodes, all crammed into one truly epic read that will be sure to keep you coming back for more and more. At over 900 pages and filled with gritty and painfully realistic emotive content, this is not a work for the faint of heart, but it is a truly sensational read with loads of shocks and twists for the horror mystery connoisseurs out there. One of the things which really impressed me was the conviction of character, with fully rounded figures that do some pretty bad things, but we still understand, empathize and root for them all the same.
The dialogue too lends itself to this realism, whilst also delivering some fantastic mystery exposition and a whole ton of personality and wit. The work oozes with style on every page, but it also digs deep into the emotional integrity of the piece, which is what makes some of its highest dramatic moments all the more traumatizing and effective. Overall, I would recommend Falling for those who love a multi-genre work with a complex history, deep psychology, and darkly speculative drama. An accomplished epic read.
