Eleu: The Seven-Year-Old Vegan Half-Marathon Runner (Eleu Vegan Book 4) by Dr. Dada is a children’s book that is meant to be read fast. Because the story is written at a brisk pace, it can easily be regarded as poetry. From her first kids' half-run, which was fun and not as hard as she thought, Eleu started her adventure. Whether it was on foot or by bike, she loved to accompany her father on every marathon he entered. As time passed by and Eleu grew up, she managed to participate in many races, regardless of the weather or terrain. Races included running and climbing to the 1km marathon and 1-mile marathon, eventually reaching out to compete in the 5km marathon and the final boss, the half marathon day.
Through each paired rhyming verse, Dr. Dada describes the adventures of Eleu and her love for marathons. One of the aspects that I liked about Eleu by Dr. Dada is the unconventionality and uniqueness of the illustrations. Choosing to use such vibrant colors in small amounts, paired with black and white, made the illustrations pop out more, and the color chosen for the font was eye-catching. I also liked the font style, which resembled the texture of a colored wax crayon, giving the book the vibe of a coloring book. I liked the paired rhyme found in each verse as this type of rhyme is one of my favorites when I read poetry books.
