Multi-award winning author, Ann Hunter, is awesome. And hilarious. She is often told it must be a blast living in her brain. She argues that the voices in her head never shut up. The only way to get relief is to let them out on to the page.
She likes cherry soda with chocolate ice cream, is a mom first and a writer second, has a secret identity, and thinks the Twilight movies are cheesier than cheez whiz (which is why they are her guilty pleasure!)

Dream Shatter is the first installment of a new series by Ann Hunter, which introduces the dystopian world run by the Circle. In the utopia created by the highly exclusive and secret Circle, life appears to be perfect now that they’ve gotten rid of the rebels who want to destroy their perfect world. Logan begins to question the Circle’s techniques when he interviews for a job and learns about his own mother’s involvement with the Circle. His suspicions arise even more when he starts working with his father in the Dream Harvesting department and discovers that the citizens' dreams are being controlled by the government. His curiosity leads him to dig further into the secrets that the Circle is keeping from the general public, including what life is really like for those rebels he had been taught to hate.
As a quick and easy read, Dream Shatter is almost impossible to put down. Ann Hunter has taken the classic science fiction concept of a governmentally-controlled dystopian world and twisted it into a unique experience with technology and dream harvesting. I was completely captivated by the concept of dream harvesting because it doesn’t seem too far-fetched, and I could totally imagine this as a foreseeable possibility. The plot is extremely fast-paced, with non-stop action in addition to well-developed relationships between old friends, family, and new friends. There is no time for a dull moment, and I especially enjoyed how Logan appears to constantly discover something new about his supposedly perfect utopia. I can’t wait to see how Logan’s story continues in the next book of the series.
