Death Throes of the Broken Clockwork Universe is a collection of poetry in the inspirational and emotional subgenres. It was created over a period of ten years and is curated and penned by poet Wayne David Hubbard, who writes on esoteric and unfinished concepts that capture perfectly the unpredictable and often inexplicable nature of life and the wider universe itself. Always penned with messages of love and exploration, the work is split into The Time Studies and The Love Studies to give some thematic context, and each verse captures moments in time from journeys or discoveries that the author has made during his life.
Wayne David Hubbard is a poet with a rare gift: that of speaking volumes and volumes between the simple lines of even the shortest of his works. A particular line that caught me was from Aria, No 4 in which “i consume dark matter / and roar stars” which conjured up the most incredible images of empowerment and metaphorical power. The collection is filled with these sudden moments of intense emotion, from euphoria to uncertainty, time and space, but always with love at the forefront. The work is sure to appeal to both long-time poetry fans for its gorgeous construction and wordplay, but also to complete newcomers to the poetry genre who are simply looking for something bold and inspirational to touch their souls. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend Death Throes of the Broken Clockwork Universe to anyone wishing to be lost in a poignant journey and experience life through a new and unique lens.
