Dead Acre, written by Rhett C. Bruno and Jaime Castle and narrated by Roger Clark, would appeal the most to a mixed audience of young adults and adults who enjoy fast-paced, action-filled stories with supernatural elements. James Crowley died in a hail of bullets and now finds himself in purgatory, avoiding hell only by serving the White Throne. His not-quite life is filled with his job of hunting down any type of demonic entity that has found its way into the human world.
Dead Acre by Rhett C. Bruno and Jaime Castle is a great audiobook that made my car trip simply fly by. The story was a mix of supernatural, action, and Western genres that served to grab and hold my interest for the entirety of the audiobook. I really liked James Crowley as he felt like a traditional Western character, yet his job as a Hand of God added a great supernatural feel to the audiobook.
The narrator is Roger Clark, an accomplished performer who has been a voice actor for numerous audiobooks. Some of these audiobooks he has narrated include Six of Crows, The First World War: a Complete History, and The Time Traveler’s Guide to Restoration Britain. The narrator’s experience as a voice actor was quite clear in how he flawlessly narrated James Crowley’s story. I found the audio quality to be top-notch and it truly made the audiobook an enjoyable listening experience for me.
