In Convincing Cami by Babette James, Cami and Jack have been secretly circling one another for years, their mutual crush hidden and simmering from the moment they met. But when Cami rents the unit next door to Jack’s house and the stars have aligned so they are both single, Convincing Cami becomes a battle of wills. When lifelong bachelor Jack decides that Cami is the woman he could settle down with, he must convince her that he is more than empty promises and a good time. Luckily, the sexy blue eyed devil is more than up for the task, adding a bit of fun to this lovely romance. Babette James has written a wonderful 'friends to lovers' romance that gives you the warm and fuzzies.
Convincing Cami has unique living arrangements as Cami is renting the spare unit in her twin sister’s house. While that is great since she had to move out of her apartment, it also means tons and tons of meddling. Mikki and her husband Ray are constantly trying to set her up with random men and not-so-secretly warn her off Jack. I thought Jack was a great guy who just hadn’t met the girl to settle down with, and I didn’t see him as a man unwilling to commit. It was unfair to paint him with that brush because it also made Cami continue to doubt him. I really enjoyed both Cami and Jack and I think Babette James created them perfectly. They were both kind yet flawed by life experiences, which made admitting their love so difficult. I would have liked to see the ending more drawn out, but this was a good story worth reading.
