Confessions of an Addict in Asia by Chad Vegas follows the protagonist's story as he traverses the world of online marketing and loses himself in Asia. Chad was glad he transitioned from bartending to online marketing. Peru no longer had anything for him, and he wanted to grow in his new job, so he packed his bags and moved to Cambodia. But things did not get better, even if he loved his new job. Some old vices mixed up with new vices, and Chad was almost too lost to ever be found again. However, Chad had no idea that he impacted the lives of all the people who impacted him. It was his wake-up call, something Chad needed to know - there was more to life than just making money and living free.
Hedonism and debauchery are the most recurring themes in Confessions of an Addict in Asia, but that isn't just what the story is about. Chad's character had a pace with which he grew and developed. He set his own pace, and he played by his own rules. Chad's character moved the story forward, gave the story background space to grow. The descriptions were out of this world. I felt like I was right there beside Chad as he traveled through Thailand, Cambodia, and more. I enjoyed the fact that Chad was always optimistic. He looked for the best in every situation, which added a lot of positivity to the narrative. He got a little lost in women and drugs, but he pulled himself together and put all his energy into doing better. His "adventures" were enjoyable, his dilemma was thought-provoking, and his reactions were human. I thoroughly enjoyed this very entertaining novel.
