Christmas Chimney Challenge by Chris Stead is an exciting children’s book full of wonderful illustrations and an action-packed plot. When Willy realizes that his family’s house doesn’t have a chimney on the roof, he is afraid that Santa will not be able to deliver Christmas presents because he’ll have no way of getting in. Willy decides that he'd better build a chimney, and fast, or else there will be no Christmas for him and his family. He and his dog figure out a way to build not just one chimney, but many chimneys; that way they can receive even more presents. This leads to Christmas complications in the North Pole, and Willy finds out that all of the chimneys he built may be the reason that Christmas gets ruined this year.
Christmas Chimney Challenge was such a cute story! Not only is it a fun, quick book, but it can also be used in an educational context, as Chris Stead provides a guide that can be used as parents walk their children through Willy’s adventure. The illustrations were so detailed and enjoyable to look at, and I loved the inclusion of both people and little animals in the story. Christmas Chimney Challenge is the fourth book in The Wild Imagination of Willy Nilly series, and I can only imagine the crazy incidents that Willy encounters in the previous installments. The book was simple to read, with large text and easy language. Christmas Chimney Challenge is an engaging and amusing story that can be both entertaining and educational if parents or teachers choose to read the book alongside young children.
