Change Your Stinkin' Thinkin’ is a children’s graphic storybook written by Analynn Sardella and illustrated by Daniela Torres. The story starts with Charlie, who has a negative and gloomy outlook on life. She does everything with a begrudging attitude. Marley, on the other hand, is the polar opposite of Charlie. She is always happy and cheerful with a positive outlook on life. How can Marley help change Charlie’s attitude? Will Charlie even budge at all? Will Charlie and Marley ever become friends? Join Marley and Charlie on their exciting journey in empowering happiness and gratefulness through positivity.
I really liked Change Your Stinkin’ Thinkin. Its descriptive writing perfectly conveys Charlie’s negative mood and approach to life. The comparison between Charlie and Marley shows the contrast of attitudes, which I found to be really interesting. While it can be difficult to convince young children to stop throwing tantrums, this tale will teach the valuable lesson of positivity and gratitude, inevitably lifting a sullen attitude into a cheery and happy mood. Analynn Sardella's story also teaches the importance of helping one another, as well as developing long-lasting friendships. I really enjoyed the illustrations by Daniela Torres throughout the short story. It magnified the story and its core values even further, which impressed me with regard to both Charlie’s and Marley’s points of view. I would recommend this book to young children for its important life lessons of friendship, helping others in need, and keeping a positive attitude at all times.
