When Sy shows up for her new assignment on land, she immediately knows something is terribly wrong as her escort is murdered right in front of her in Blood Tide: Dolphin Shore Shifters Book 1 by C.J. Matthew. Fortunately, Noah is in the right place at the right time to rescue Sy and is able to stay by her side as she tries to figure out who she can trust and who should be avoided. As a shape-shifting dolphin, Sy is supposed to be able to feel secure among her pod mates at the Save Blue Water offices, but as humans, they seem as susceptible to mystery and intrigue as non shape-shifters - so that leaves Noah as her only source of security. With a missing sister, Lorelei, and a group of co-workers who may have a different agenda, Sy tries to prove herself capable enough to carry out important field ops missions to help save the oceans from illegal dumping and other harmful activities. Will her resolve be enough or is there too much going on right on her own doorstep for Sy to achieve her goals?
Action, emotion and steamy sex combine to make Blood Tide: Dolphin Shore Shifters Book 1 by C.J. Matthew a relatively quick but quite enjoyable and pleasant read. Dolphins, ancient native American legends, and modern business corruption blend together to create a story that you just have to follow to see how it all works out. Great by itself, the best part of Blood Tide is knowing that there is more to follow in upcoming volumes.
