Birth of an American Gigolo by Deek Rhew is an entertaining story of a woman scorned by a cheating husband with his secretary, and who plans her revenge in a unique and surprising way. The story had me guessing what would happen next. I am pleased to say, I was not disappointed with the results. I found a connection with the main character, Lindsey, and related with the earth loving hippie secretary, Cindie, of whom the pompous husband was so fond. This story has a nice flow and while reading I often laughed out loud, especially during the training session of the dauntingly handsome, yet extremely naïve Dios and his trainer, Lindsey, aka domesticated goddess.
I must honestly say Deek Rhew has a unique way of telling a story in Birth of an American Gigolo. It is rare for a man to be able to tell a convincing story from a woman’s perspective regarding her cheating husband, yet I found that Deek did an amazing job. I forgot I was reading a book written by a man. The love scenes are steamy, yet tastefully written. The only character that did not quite fit into the story and caught me off guard was Angel. However, as I read on, the timing of her entry into the plot was a little twist that set the rest of the story off, and what a sweet revenge it was indeed. This story read like a stage play. If you like Same Time Next Year, you will really enjoy Birth of an American Gigolo.
