Get ready for an action-packed adventure in Lavender Lake with A Win For Corinne. Written by Dayle Dabney, this heartwarming picture book follows the adventures of Coach Corinne of Lavender Lake's swim team, the Lavender Lappers. Heavy rain on Frog Creek sends Ruby Belle, a butterfly goldfish, straight into Lavender Lake with the overflowing water. Meanwhile, Coach Corinne reveals her wish for one of the Lappers to win at least one first-place blue medal for the team's bulletin board. However, her moving speech is interrupted by the arrival of Ruby Belle, who tells them her story. Seeing her love for swimming, Coach Corinne enrolls Ruby in her team. But it takes Ruby's new teammates a while to warm up to her. Can Ruby help the Lappers win their first blue ribbon ever?
Winning is so much fun, right? But you know what makes it even better? Winning with a team where everyone helps one another and makes each other succeed. A Win For Corinne is an adrenaline-pumping children's sports tale built on this very premise. Dayle Dabney's uplifting picture book is an absolute joy to read. Young readers will not only be entertained but also learn about the value of competitiveness and teamwork. The characters are lively and adorable. Coach Corinne is a motivating teacher, and her students make sure they live up to her high standards. Ruby Belle's story arc is inspiring and will definitely resonate with young readers. I loved how Ruby's teammates came together toward the end and embraced her as one of their own. The illustrations are captivating and sure to put a smile on your face. Highly recommended!
