Vendetta by J. T. Bishop begins with Detectives Daniels and Remalla being called to a grisly murder at a downtown hotel, where a guest has been found dead, his body marked with a star carved into his thigh. It’s a calculated, symbolic act that feels like more than just a message—it’s a warning. This disturbing discovery sets off a chain of macabre and mysterious events, each one more layered and sinister than the last. As the detectives dig deeper, it becomes clear that they’re not just dealing with a killer—they’re unraveling a larger conspiracy tied to corruption, deception, and hidden motives buried beneath powerful institutions. Every new clue tightens the tension, while the symbolic nature of the crimes hints at a personal vendetta whose reach is far from random.

J.T. Bishop delivers a gripping, fast-paced thriller in book nine of the Detectives Daniels and Remalla series. There are strong procedural elements and a dose of emotional intensity. The plot unfolds with stakes that just keep escalating, driven by crisp dialogue and clever reveals. Daniels and Remalla’s partnership remains at the heart of the narrative, offering not only well-matched investigative instincts but a loyalty that grounds the entire story. The pacing is brisk but never rushed, and the characters—especially new allies and potential suspects—are well-drawn and compelling. Vendetta will appeal to fans of gritty crime fiction, detective duos, and twisty mysteries that blend symbolism with suspense. Whether you’re a returning reader or new to the series, this installment is an engaging and rewarding ride.

Vendetta by J.T. Bishop is about a vendetta by an influential businessman and financier who feels that certain people have done him wrong, and he is out to exact revenge by turning the same people he has recruited to do his dirty work against each other. It brings to light just how cruel people can be to each other. And how you can have forgotten that you hurt someone, but they don’t forget very easily, and they will come after you with all guns blazing when they feel the time is right.

Vendetta by J.T. Bishop takes the two detectives, Aaron Remalla and Daniels, on their next hair-raising adventure. These two unlikely partners accompany the reader on a journey with more twists and turns than a rattlesnake on the hunt. It is a fast-moving, well-written story testing the friendship and partnership between Rem and Daniels. But through each twist and turn, the two detectives, with their wacky sense of humor and reasoning of the events that take place, make it an exciting adventure. The reader will not find it easy to put the book down once started. This book shows the worst and the best of human nature and leaves the reader reeling at the twist on the final pages, wondering how long the next story will take to get written. The author tells it in such a way that you cannot second guess what is going to happen next or who is the villain, as you can in most murder mysteries. I enjoyed it and found the fast pace excellent. An enjoyable book and well worth a second read. It was a delightful read and reminded me a little of Hercule Poirot and his little gray cells.

Vendetta is the ninth book in the Detectives Daniels and Remalla series by J.T. Bishop, and it picks up where Illusions left off. Daniels and Remalla investigate a murder at a classy hotel, learning that the victim is a prominent attorney. As they investigate, things in their lives begin to fall apart. Their captain is suspended, and they both have loved ones in danger. Together with Lexie Logan, they are still going through a box of information given to them by a former member of the secretive organization they stumbled upon in Illusions. As an unknown villain tightens the strings around the duo, his assassin makes a mistake and leaves a witness. With Daniels and Remalla searching for the witness, their loved ones are in danger. Marjorie and Mikey will do anything to support their partners, even accepting a mysterious woman into their circle. Still, when tragedy strikes too close to home, Daniels blames Remalla, and their relationship is in danger of imploding. Ultimately, they are left with a conundrum: flushing out the villain while keeping themselves and their families safe.

The Daniels and Remalla suspense thrillers are written with a touch of the paranormal to make the story a bit tenser and spellbinding. With this book, J.T. Bishop continues in an easy-to-read style that makes you forget about time and get lost in the story. The characters are grounded and relatable, and their growth through the series is evident. The plot is full of twists and surprises. Just when you think that there is one main storyline, the author unfolds the bigger picture, and then all the seemingly loose ends tie together, creating an intricate and extensive subplot that will leave the reader stunned. The series arc becomes clearer in Vendetta and lays the groundwork for the next novel, which promises to be full of more heart-stopping action and heart-wrenching emotions. If this is your first time reading a Daniels and Remalla novel, beware because you will want more of the witty bantering and camaraderie, and before you know it, you will have read the whole series. It is that good.
