Inspired by biblical lore, The Veil by Wanda Luthman follows the story of Samuel, a young boy who witnesses a miraculous event that changes the course of human history. All Samuel ever wanted was to be chosen to serve as the priest's understudy in the Jewish Tabernacle. On his thirteenth birthday, he finally gets his wish. Having studied the Torah under Rabbi Menecachen, Samuel chooses to read his favorite passage from the ancient prophet Isaiah. He travels to Jerusalem with the priest and unwittingly becomes a witness to the tearing of the Veil as Yeshuah sacrifices Himself to erase the sins of all humanity. Samuel feels closer to Yahweh and visits Mary, who confirms the identity of the Messiah. He fully embraces his faith with an open heart.
The Veil is a heartwarming story about faith, love, and hope. Christian readers will find a lot to love about this book. Concisely written and filled with biblical wisdom and lore, the narrative recounts the events surrounding the sacrifice of Jesus Christ as seen from the perspective of the priest and a young boy. Wanda Luthman tells an engaging story that is not only educational but also inspiring and full of hope. Despite the book's short length, readers will be able to relate to Samuel and his choices, as the character is very well-developed. In addition, the narrative is thematically rich and poignant, leaving you with much to ponder about the tearing of the veil. Any fan of Christian mythology and lore will find this book delightful. I'm glad I read it and highly recommend it.
