Each of the four seasons of the year brings its treasures and surprises. Each season is filled with songs that warm the heart and bring joy to all, especially a family of teddies who soak up all the fun and pleasure each season offers. Spring brings new life, new growth and new songs for the birds to happily sing. Summer brings the warmth and fun times playing at the seaside. “The spring is green grass, birds and colorful flowers./ The summer is sand, water and playing for hours.” Autumn is filled with good food and good fun. And Winter makes the teddies snuggle up to stay warm. And, with a long cold night ahead, what better way to slip into dreamland and sing songs for the four seasons than all snuggled up tight for the night.
Helen H. Wu has written and illustrated a charming, picturesque little book for young readers. Written in rhyming verse, A Song of Four Seasons captures the joy of discovery that is in each child’s heart. The rhythmic verses make up the lyrics, like those of a song, that lead the story along through the four seasons. The language is simple and the four cute little bears, the number in keeping with the four seasons, invite young readers to share their joys of each season. Accompanied by spectacular illustrations, this book is a real treasure. It’s bright and cheery and it turns the simple joys of life all year long into an exciting journey of discovery.
