A Prince’s Errand is a work of fiction in the epic fantasy and adventure sub-genres and was penned by author duo Dan Zangari and Robert Zangari. Forming the opening novel in the Tales of the Amulet series, this compelling work contains some moderate fantasy violence and mild swearing, but no explicit sexual content, making it suitable for most readers to enjoy. An ensemble cast of different characters come together in the quest to find an ancient order called the Keepers of Truth and Might, scholars of Kalda’s past who might be able to lift its people out of the dark ages. Each has their own agenda and designs on the power and knowledge that await, and some will bring good whilst others may discover terrible evil lurking in the shadows of the past.
Author team Dan Zangari and Robert Zangari have crafted a superb opening epic to what promises to be a deeply involved and dedicated fantasy series. There are plenty of plot threads to follow as the different tales unravel all across the land, and fans of such multi-layered and multi-protagonist stories will find that every single one has been granted the same dedication and development. I particularly enjoyed the mysterious and dark journey of the tormented Iltar, which was superbly atmospheric and intense. There is an admirable commitment to world-building in this opening novel too, which sets up the detailed history of the Zangaris’ epic world and the troubles and divisions which have befallen it. There is so much potential for future adventure in this world, and now that each of the players is in place, I can’t wait to see what the future will hold for them. Overall, A Prince’s Errand is a superb fantasy work for hardcore epic fans.
