Ann Weiser Cornell's 21 Days to Better Boundaries is a daily companion intended to help the reader engage in a healthier thought process to aid in establishing better-defined boundaries as they learn more about their thoughts and feelings. After defining terms that would be highlighted in the material, like focusing, the book breaks down key points into daily practices, establishing a routine for readers.
The book is segmented into easily digestible units so even busy individuals will have an easier time absorbing the contents. I feel that the author’s approach will lead to better absorption of the material and a higher likelihood that the practices will be applied longer than twenty-one days. The author helps her readers recognize the feelings they have when they respond negatively or positively, and how setting boundaries can establish clearer pathways of communication between people. Some of the suggestions can be challenging, but as the reader implements them, the results can be transformative!
I found the activities in 21 Days to Better Boundaries useful and empowering. Even though I read the book over a shorter time span than the title suggested, I plan to go back and apply each point to my daily life until the practices become second nature to me. Ann Weiser Cornell Ph. D. does not leave her readers after the last page. In addition to the book, the author provides free videos and other resources that can be used to encourage a healthier mindset. I recommend this guide to readers who seek more open and fulfilling personal connections while remaining true to their values and self-worth.
