Zomerschoon: Beauty of Summer is a contemporary romance novel by Wendi Dass. After an adventurous trip to Rome, Italy, Anna Franklin is back in Oxford as a grad student when her advisor, Dr. Cayley, suffers an unfortunate stroke. Left without her favorite professor, Anna has no choice but to work on solving math problems with the seemingly brusque post-doc Hendrik Van der Aart. But as the two of them spend time together, they develop a strong mutual attraction that neither can deny. With Anna close to solving an old cipher, Hendrik seems to pull away from her every time she expresses her feelings. During a trip to The Hague, Anna is approached by none other than the NSA. Meanwhile, her relationship with her mother deteriorates further. Will Anna be able to do what she loves while balancing romance and family?
Prepare yourself for an entertaining journey of self-discovery full of romance, humor, and drama. Zomerschoon is the story of a young woman's search for purpose and meaning in her life. Wendi Dass introduces a quick-witted math genius as the protagonist of her debut novel, to whom readers will soon become attached. Anna is a likable and relatable character you can sympathize with. She has doubts about compromising the professional career of the man she loves in exchange for their relationship. This creates an interesting dilemma that is delicious to devour as a reader. The author's sense of humor also hit all the right notes for me as I found the banter and dialogue to be top-notch. Happy to recommend this one.
