With the fast-paced nature of modern life, people often tend to miss out on enjoying the little things that life has to offer. Zen Musings From a Fly on the Wall is a collection of inspiring essays written over the years by author Wei Teng Chen. Chen shares her everyday experiences with engaging personal anecdotes, insights, and observations, often sprinkled with a few valuable nuggets of wisdom. She learned to cook the "Devil's Curry" and found herself comfortable with other dishes by paying attention to detail. As a form teacher, she attempted to teach children to create their own narratives. She found inspiration in the story of a volunteer tour guide in Japan. After learning the ukulele, Chen discovered the trick to mastering oneself through discipline. The book also features heartfelt stories from her trips to Southeast Asian countries.

This collection of essays will put a smile on your face and brighten your day. Through her lively experiences, Wei Teng Chen shows readers how to enjoy every aspect of life by living at a leisurely pace. The author also recounts her time during the recent global pandemic, observing how nature and wildlife slowly started to heal without the all-consuming pollution surrounding the planet during those lockdowns. These essays encourage readers to soak in everything around us and find beauty in their essence. Chen has an engaging and accessible writing style that will appeal to all readers. You can open any page in the book and read one of these essays to put your mind at peace. I thoroughly enjoyed Zen Musings From a Fly on the Wall and highly recommend it.
