Witches of Wildwood by Mark Wesley Curran is a horror collection subtitled Cape May Horror Stories and Other Scary Tales from the Jersey Shore. Open the cover and prepare yourself to meet some of the most chilling and frightening of all creatures. Set in Cape May County on the South Jersey Shore, these eleven stories will thrill and terrify you at the same time. You’ll get to meet the girl in the attic, the Jersey Devil, a werewolf stalking a radio show host, zombies and even a vampire or two, not to mention the witch hunter whose sole aim is to kill four sisters. Open the cover if you dare, and step into a terrifying yet strangely entertaining world that will make your hair stand on end and your toes curl.
Witches of Wildwood: Cape May Horror Stories and Other Scary Tales from the Jersey Shore by Mark Wesley Curran makes for compelling reading. From the very first page, I was hooked, unable to put the book down until I had met the very last creature. Mr. Curran has an incredibly vivid imagination and a definite way with words. The way he writes, the descriptive nature of his stories, transports you to the setting, enthralls you and has you living the tale. Each of these tales has been individually crafted to provide the maximum effect and each succeeds in doing exactly that. I thoroughly enjoyed this book; I like short stories anyway and the horror genre has always fascinated me – to have the two pulled together into one electrifying book is a dream. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a short, sharp shock of terror!
