Willow and Coco meet Santa Claus (Willow and Coco Children's Series Book 4) by Rachel McGrath has Christmas as its backdrop and captures the essence of the festival beautifully. Coco, the dog, and Willow, the cat, are waiting to meet Santa Claus. They are both mischievous pets and they love playing with the decorations on the Christmas tree. Coco has hopes of getting a big juicy bone to chew and a bouncy ball to play with. Willow has asked Santa to get her some catnip and a ball of string to chase. They are eagerly waiting for Santa on Christmas Eve and have eaten some of the food that had been set out for Santa. Will they be able to see Santa Claus?
The story is adorable and captures the spirit of Christmas Eve nicely. The illustrations are delightful and charming and they give a good pace and movement to the story, breathing life into the characters and the scenes. It's a good bedtime storybook for parents and grandparents to read out to their kids and grandkids. The story can also be used for interactive sessions in classrooms and school libraries during the Christmas season and otherwise too. The story shows the different behaviors and emotions of these two pets and the author does it cleverly. The story also captures the essence of Christmas Eve from the perspective of the two pets. Children will love Coco and Willow and their eagerness to get their gifts from Santa Claus, and will be able to connect well with their feelings.
