Wicked For Hire (Paranormal in Manhattan Mystery Book 1) by Lotta Smith is an amusing paranormal story of Amanda Meyer, an ex-medical student just trying to make a living so she can pay off her massive school debt. Three patients had mysteriously died after being in her care for only minutes, and Amanda was accused of murdering them. Invited to leave medical school, Amanda was trying to keep her head above water. Although her innocence had been proven by an FBI agent, her name had not been cleared. The FBI agent that had saved her had also dubbed her,'the grim reaper,' which cost her job and her place in medical school. To pay her debt, she took a job at the Federal Building. She was given the dubious position of working as an assistant for Rick Rowling, the Special Agent for the FBI's Paranormal Division. This is where the fun begins. He was the man who, by insinuating that she was an angel of death, had wrecked her chances of a medical career. She needs the job. What is a girl to do? Work for a crazy man, that's what! Now she is in the business of murder, ghouls and monsters.
Wicked For Hire (Paranormal in Manhattan Mystery Book 1) by Lotta Smith was fun from beginning to end. I absolutely loved this book and I can't wait to read the next one. I enjoyed Amanda's easy going outlook and her somewhat dry sense of humor. My only complaint was that Wicked For Hire (Paranormal in Manhattan Mystery Book 1) ended too quickly and left me wishing there had been more to it. I am certainly looking forward to reading more of Amanda and Rick's paranormal mystery investigations, and am anxious to see what is lurking around the next city corner!
