While You Wait...: My Journey of Singleness and Lessons for Those Waiting on God's Promises is a Christian women’s book by Nia Irvin-Smith. Focusing in particular on single women, the book explains the general female desire for marriage and romance, but takes a look at balanced living and serving God, and how these two things (in the author’s view) add up to single ladies having their prayers answered, but only when the time is right. During what is termed their ‘season of waiting,’ this self-help book offers spiritual lessons to change your perspective on the demanding nature of prayers, and to learn to accept the path you’re on and have faith that the results of that path will be what you deserve.
I’m neither Christian nor looking for marriage, yet I found Nia Irvin-Smith’s book to be an engaging read. The messages she teaches about being patient and trusting in the great plan out there in the universe can really be translated to anyone with a dream they want to achieve. The narrative is not at all preachy and it’s very welcoming to people who may be reading the book with an alternative viewpoint, making the overall effect very uplifting. I also found the author’s interpretations of biblical stories and references really insightful and interesting, even from a non-religious standpoint. Overall, I’d say that While You Wait...: My Journey of Singleness and Lessons for Those Waiting on God's Promises will prove a valuable read for its intended audience, but also contains a fascinating and positive ideology for others too.
