In We're No Saints, the thirteenth book in the Love Plans Series, Mona Risk dives into a moment in St. John between Stephanie Winston and Neil Cooper. Although Stephanie and Neil are instantly attracted to each other, Stephanie holds back because she lost her husband less than a year ago, and she's mourning him. Her twin daughters have developed issues with their attitudes, but Neil seems to know just how to win them over. Stephanie and Neil continue their friendship when they fly back to Atlanta, but a devastating discovery in her husband's office causes her to question her trust in men. Neil has secrets, too, and what he knows may cause Stephanie to lose faith in him and a future romantic relationship.
Mona Risk is skilled at diving straight into the plot and using dialogue and plot development well. Risk catches her readers up on the other books by casually mentioning the characters and their mates or children. The story may be read as a standalone novel, as it gives readers an in-depth look into Stephanie's life. It's easy for busy caregivers to put themselves into Stephanie's role as she tries to balance running a company and remaining active in her children's lives. There is plenty of chemistry between Stephanie and Neil, and their warm friendship makes readers hope even more for a happily ever after. Some circumstances may make a deeper relationship too hard for them, and more than one unfortunate surprise tries to drive a wedge into their future happiness. Readers who enjoy romances that seem doomed or forbidden will enjoy We're No Saints.
