Welcome to Foxyland: Great Adventures of Little Foxycat by Wald Peterson is a fun and educational children’s story. Foxycat is sent on an errand by his mother to get the things she needs to make a pie for tea. Foxycat has a vivid imagination – just like all children – and while he is on his errands, his imagination is free to run riot. Greeting the sun and the fish in the brook, he makes his way to his first stop, Uncle Beaver the carpenter. There he learns all about the forest before he heads off to visit Mr. Hams to get some flour. Mr. Hams is a little busy, rushing about everywhere, and he sets Foxycat a small task to do while telling him all about how flour is made. Foxycat can finally make his way to his last stop before he heads home. Along the way, Foxycat learns a great deal about the world around him and goes home full of awe and excitement about all he has done that sunny day.
Welcome to Foxyland: Great Adventures of Little Foxycat by Wald Peterson is a lovely kid’s story. Not only is it a fun story, it is also very educational. I loved the illustrations in the book; they are so colorful and expertly drawn that they really bring the story to life. The story is well laid out, broken down into chapters for easy reading, with each chapter being a little story about a place that Foxycat has visited. There are lots of lessons in the book for children, like the importance of brushing your teeth, being polite, and learning how things work. It is written in very simple, easy to read language and I think that any child will love this book. Great story!
