Welcome to Charm by Tonya Penrose reveals Abby’s astonishment when a detour takes her to the village of Charm. She discovers she has lost track of several hours and cannot leave town. She meets the friendly residents, Elbert, Gita, Bob, and Bill. Abby is smitten with Mayor Nash Walker and agrees to stay with his sister Bella. She also cannot say “no” to cash-free shopping at Wisteria Boutique, but even as she settles into this utopia, she wonders why she has been chosen. What would happen to this idyllic interlude if she were offered the chance to return to Crestview? Could Nash and Abby have a future if Nash were to be offered the opportunity to leave? Does Abby have any unfinished business to fulfill?
Welcome to Charm by Tonya Penrose presents a magical romance combined with a spiritual journey. I picked the story because of the exciting concept of moving on from an imperfect life and relationship to something much better. I enjoyed reading it because of the overwhelming positivity embedded in the text. I loved the self-development elements that reminded me of principles from the Bible, Buddhist philosophy, and the best of humanist psychology. I loved the gentle reminder to go with our intended vocation in life and not fight against it. I also enjoyed the moral lesson not to meddle with perfection and the warning regarding the dangers of altering nature. How I wished I too could move to Charm to fulfill my life purpose and meet my soul mate! This is a feel-good narrative packed with life wisdom and emotional intelligence.
