Views from Sandhausen: Experiences from A Foreign Service Assignment in Germany by Clifford and Lynn Feightner takes readers into the real life experiences of Clifford and Lynn Feightner when Clifford was given the opportunity to move to Sandhausen, a village five kilometers south of Heidelberg. The authors give a lot of snippets, information, and incidents on their stay as American expats, and capture the essence of the place and the experiences of living in a new country beautifully. The book is insightful, informative, and touches the hearts of readers in a big way through the notes they have sent their friends and family.
The book connects well with readers, especially with all those who are living and working outside their home country. The notes shared are vivid and give a peek into the lives of Clifford and Lynn Feightner, the sights and sounds of the place where they lived, and the lessons they learned and the challenges they had to overcome while living abroad. The authors share pictures as well, which gives readers an idea of the places they have visited, and a clearer perspective of what the authors are trying to convey and share. The authors' style of writing is witty at times, yet engaging, and gives readers a peek into a part of Clifford and Lynn Feightner’s life in Germany and the memories they created while they were there. The book is moving and thought-provoking and is definitely worth a read.
