The Prophecy of the Seventh Elizabeth is the first book in Jarrod Edge's The Battle Between Light and Dark trilogy. The story starts with a secret prophecy revealed by the Apostle John in antiquity, predicting a battle that transcends time and space. Fast-forward to the cusp of the new millennium and FBI Special Agent Johnathan Sette is thrown into turmoil when a hit shatters his family, with his newborn daughter, Elizabeth, missing. This initiates a riveting journey that takes Johnathan and his family to the heart of a cosmic battle between light and dark forces. He seeks the help of the Seven Dragons family — experts in an ancient martial art that merges spiritual wisdom with physical prowess — to learn the skills required to protect his family. Their training is critical as the Sette family, holding steadfastly to their Christian faith, confronts malevolent demons, aliens, and corrupt corporates. Can they triumph over the forces of darkness, and what of Elizabeth’s fate?

The Prophecy of the Seventh Elizabeth is an enthralling blend of action, faith, and fantasy set against diverse backdrops—from the ambiance of ancient Ephesus in 100 A.D. to 1999 Florida. The story features well-developed Christian themes that complement the fast-paced narrative. The story is wonderfully told, and the tension escalates with each chapter. It is finely balanced with moments of humor and fun, demonstrating Jarrod Edge’s skillful storytelling. The characters are larger than life, from the historical and biblical characters to the relatable and fully drawn Johnathan. The author has the gift of crafting realistic and richly drawn characters. Johnathan is a man struggling, driven by duty, love, and faith. Supporting him is a cast of warriors, believers, and skeptics, each contributing to the rich thematic tapestry of the novel. Elizabeth, though missing, is a constant presence, the prophesied Chosen One around whom the forces of darkness and light converge.

This inaugural installment promises a thrilling saga that is as thought-provoking as it is entertaining. The author skillfully delivers the audio version. The audio is clear, and the narrative is punctuated by different voices representing the other characters. It’s an action-packed adventure rooted in spiritual resilience and the age-old battle between light and darkness. It was a delight listening to this tale, and the narrator’s voice captured the spiritual atmosphere that powerfully permeates the narrative.

The Prophecy of the Seventh Elizabeth: The Battle Between Light and Dark, Book 1 by Jarrod Edge is an electrifying Christian sci-fi adventure that seamlessly blends supernatural elements with profound spiritual themes. The Sette family finds themselves at the center of a cosmic conflict when a secret prophecy reveals the impending rise of a great evil. FBI agent Johnathan Sette's world is shattered by a devastating attack with his newborn daughter Elizabeth mysteriously missing. Trained in the ancient martial arts by the legendary Seven Dragons family, the Settes prepare to confront soulless forces and alien threats that challenge their faith and resilience. Edge creates a narrative landscape that spans both the historical realm of ancient Ephesus and the contemporary setting of 1999 Florida, weaving a complex tapestry of suspense, spiritual warfare, and familial determination.

Author Jarrod Edge seamlessly integrates Christian themes with high-octane sci-fi action. I was particularly impressed by the intricate world-building that allows faith-based elements to enhance the story's depth without ever feeling too heavy-handed. Edge's ability to weave suspense, humor, and emotional pathos creates a multifaceted story that keeps readers thoroughly engaged from cover to cover. The character development, especially of Johnathan Sette and his turmoil, transforms what could have been a simple adventure into a profound exploration of faith, family, and the ongoing spiritual battle between light and darkness. The narrative also challenges readers to consider deeper philosophical and spiritual questions while maintaining a thrilling, action-packed pace, unfolding the plot through well-placed dialogue exchanges and contextually relevant situations rather than huge blocks of dry prose.

In the audiobook, Jarrod Edge's dual role as both author and narrator gives an unprecedented level of authenticity and emotional depth to the performance. His vocal versatility is remarkable, bringing each character to life with a distinct personality and emotional range. This is an enthusiastic and vibrant author who knows his characters inside out. The pacing perfectly complements the high-energy plot, creating an audio experience that is both immersive and dynamically engaging. The production quality is outstanding, with crystal-clear sound that enhances the storytelling without overshadowing the narrative. Overall, I highly recommend The Prophecy of the Seventh Elizabeth as an exceptional audiobook that offers unique and transformative storytelling for fans of Christian sci-fi and adventure.

In Jarrod L. Edge’s The Prophecy of the Seventh Elizabeth: The Battle Between Light and Dark, interwoven with the modern story is a story from 100 B.C. where John, the writer of the biblical Revelation writes a “Second Revelation” that is lost to most of mankind. The modern story begins in 1999 with FBI agent Johnathan Sette rushing his pregnant wife to the hospital when they are involved in a horrible crash. Johnathan and his unborn daughter are the only survivors, but Elizabeth is then abducted from the hospital. Johnathan decides his three older children need to learn martial arts taught by the Family of the Seven Dragons to protect themselves against the Syndicate, a multinational child trafficking organization. He believes his work fighting the Syndicate drew their ire against his family, and they are responsible. In his spare time, he continues to search for his missing daughter and learns more than evil human forces are behind the Syndicate and the attack on his family. At the same time, we discover Elizabeth’s story and that her abduction was not done with evil intent but to protect her and her family. Will Jonathan ever unravel the truth and find his daughter?

Overall, I enjoyed listening to Jarrod L. Edge’s unique Christian fantasy. The story was clean for young adult audiences and for adults, like me, who appreciate these kinds of stories. It also appealed to me as a Christian because it personified the fight between good and evil. I like that Bible verses were quoted throughout and that all the bad characters “with souls” (i.e. who were not demons) were allowed a chance to change their ways and not outright killed. Killing anyone was never taken lightly even though the characters frequently encountered life-or-death situations with criminals and demons. The Battle Between Light and Dark is primarily narrated by a female British voice with a cast of AI voices for each character. Music plays in the background for each chapter, and some sound effects are also used. This version is not simply a book being read; it was a concerted production.
