Hartslog Valley has for long been haunted by a violent past. In 1754, while out hunting, Captain Jack’s wife and his two children were butchered by Indians. Filled with revenge, he started to hunt and kill Indians. In 1780, south of Harstlog in Woodcock Valley, a group of Seneca Indians and two white collaborators brutally murdered ten of Captain Phillips’ Rangers. Then there was the ghastly massacre of the Dean family in 1788. Fast forward to 1980, the violence in Hartslog Valley continues. Vietnam veteran Gene Brooks vows to protect the students of Twin River High School, who are caught in the violence. His son Conner and his fellow sophomore Matt Henry are also involved. "Twin River" is a chilling tale written by Michael Fields.

Chapter one started off in the 1700’s, with exciting but disturbing historical moments. The story lifts off with Jacob Hare, a ‘Tory’ or loyalist of the British Crown. From start to finish, I was on edge with the violent scenes that were graphically described, to the point that it almost made me stop reading – which I didn't of course. Nonetheless, high praise for Mr. Fields for successfully including realism in his story. The writing is excellent with a good, believable cast of characters. The plot is complex enough. The suspense elements are in the right places with the right timing. A solid and entertaining thriller, with twists and turns that keep you intrigued and surprised till the end.
