Jenifer Majerus brings us more enthralling fantasy fiction in Twice Blessed. It’s been one month since the incident in Port Tythrenn where Gwen Wood, the Chaos Blessed, had to keep the Goddess Variel back from destroying an entire town. Damon, the one person she trusts the most, is still missing. No one knows what happened to him. Gwen believes he was taken because he protected her. Nobody at the palace seems to be taking this seriously, and only small efforts are made to locate the Sergeant, and best friend, of the Crown Prince, Daric. As for Daric, he seems intent on plying Gwen with compliments to become his betrothed. Gwen is not interested in becoming Queen of Dovania while focusing on controlling the powers of Chaos she was Blessed with.
Author Jenifer Majerus has a rare talent that pulls the reader into a story without effort. With phenomenal character building and an abundance of sensory stimulation, this book was extremely difficult to put down. A strong female protagonist drives this story from start to finish without missing a beat. Dialogue is filled with personality, which makes the characters more likable. All the chaos is balanced perfectly with moments of tenderness and true caring. Twice Blessed is suitable for young adult readers of fantasy fiction. Even with some mention of rape, done with finesse, there is more than enough action and intrigue to keep any reader wanting more. I eagerly anticipate the arrival of the next book in this enthralling series.
