Three Faces in the Mirror is a work of fiction in the women’s fiction, interpersonal drama, and realistic sub-genres, and was penned by author Veronica Mixon. This intriguing family-based drama crosses several genres to deliver a fully-rounded story, incorporating crime and legal drama into the central plot. Ivy’s idyllic life in Savannah is on the verge of being ripped to pieces when Willa Elliott arrives, unsure of how to approach the woman who is her true birth mother. As Willa’s interference causes a terrible tragedy, the bonds of blood are truly tested, and this mother and daughter will go through hell and heartbreak on the road to some kind of future together.
Author Veronica Mixon has crafted a very engrossing story that delivers so much more than one would expect from typical books of this genre, making it an accomplished novel that readers will be saddened to part from by the time they reach its end. One of the things which I found most impressive in the read was the commitment to emotional realism and the pacing which takes time to really process every twist and turn of the plot. There’s plenty of space for suspense and high drama too, giving crests and troughs to the action that keep readers on their toes for the next wave of intensity. The dialogue too was a standout feature, characterizing the women well, but also asking those hard, raw questions that we really wanted to know the answers to. Overall, I would highly recommend Three Faces in the Mirror to family drama and women’s fiction fans everywhere.
