Amy, a wedding planner and business owner, finds her source of income dwindling as the chaos of the pandemic engulfs the nation. Gary, who is head of San Diego’s COVID task force, works with school superintendents, small business owners, and others. Kevin's job as a public interest advocate involves him representing public schools, parents, students, and other groups that need his help. Follow the intriguing stories of these characters and more as they strive to find balance in a world disrupted by a global tragedy.
Though it embraces a narrative style that constantly switches viewpoints, the tale is highly informative, similar to a documentary. Rob Smat and the book's protagonists capture intricate details of dealing personally and publicly with the COVID-19 restrictions. I found myself nodding in agreement while reading several relatable observations, such as how the words "hang in there" are one of those pandemic platitudes that got tiring. Also, the characters display a great deal of courage and resilience. Whether they're sharing information on a Facebook group, marching, or speaking from the heart, their determination to make things work is highly inspiring. In essence, The Wedding March is a riveting, awe-inspiring story about a troubling moment in history that many readers will find relatable. This tale of love, trials, and resilience is a must-read for everyone whose livelihood was affected in any way by the 2020 pandemic.
