Billy, Nathan, and Alex love hanging out on the monkey bars and especially love their Taekwondo training with Master Hargis. Alex tells his friends about an upcoming Taekwondo tournament and suggests they participate. After going over what they must do to join the competition, the three boys realize they don’t have enough money to pay the entrance fee. So they devise a plan to earn the money they need but have no one to borrow from, or their parents don’t have the extra funds to give them. Billy suggests speaking to Mrs. Brown, the librarian, for the help they need. How can the librarian help them? Will they earn the money in time to go to the tournament? Why is the competition so important to them? Find out in The Warriors Three by Donna L Martin.
The Warriors Three by Donna L Martin shows inspiring perseverance, persistence, and teamwork that will encourage kids to work hard to achieve their goals. The main characters are young boys that kids can easily relate to as they progress through their training in Taekwondo. I love the martial arts aspect of this story. It is entertaining and will encourage young readers to participate in more physical activities that can lead to a healthier lifestyle. I recommend it to young kids and teens that enjoy stories about trial and error, teamwork, sports, and especially martial arts. I look forward to seeing more stories like this one by Martin that will teach kids the valuable lessons of integrity, courtesy, honor, and respect.
