The Virtual Tablet of Irma Tre is a beautiful book of poetry, but with deeper meaning than one might expect. Marie Lecrivain has emulated steps along a spiritual journey, describing them in compelling terms to rip open her psyche and display the transformations and obstacles one might encounter as they ultimately grow as a person. Concealed behind this physical premise is an alchemical system of secrets and spiritual concepts. With her background in esotericism and alchemy, Marie Lecrivain seeks to instruct as well as enlighten with this poetry.
The dictionary definition of Alchemy is “a medieval chemical science and speculative philosophy aiming to achieve the transmutation of the base metals into gold, the discovery of a universal cure for disease, and the discovery of a means of indefinitely prolonging life”. The meaning Marie Lecrivain ascribes to it is that of oneself being the base metal to be transformed into something more valuable, i.e. a deeper and better person.
Aside from the riveting material contained within its pages, The Virtual Tablet of Irma Tre is beautifully designed with an intriguing cover and thought provoking black and white photographs inside. They complement the poems and hint at the core beliefs in reincarnation, karma, and personal evolution. Some knowledge of esoteric matters and/or alchemy would prove helpful in understanding this book, but a lack of the same would not inhibit one's enjoyment of the poetry and images themselves.
