Jennifer moved to New York to start her career as an artist. Things didn't go as planned, and she worked odd jobs. With her rent due and no hope in sight, she prayed for a miracle. Her phone beeped and God had texted her, improving her life in more ways than one. God turned out to be Gabe, a hot lawyer with an accomplished but vindictive girlfriend. Their meeting sparked a fire between them, but they have to contend with many obstacles, including Gabe’s girlfriend.

The Text God by Whitney Dineen and Melanie Summers is arguably one of the most humorous books I’ve read. It was a perfect cross between a chick lit and comedic storyline. I laughed so much from the beginning until the end. However, as much as this novel was bathed in humor, it still passed a powerful message to people of faith that there’s a God that watches, sees, hears, and does. Hence, we should keep the faith. I loved the premise on which the story was built and its unique quality. The character development was also consistent, especially Jen’s. The Daly couple, Mary and Joe, were my favorite characters. Those people governed the republic of fun. I still can’t stop laughing at the inspiration behind the “Bungalow” name. Whitney and Melanie brought their A-game to this book. And it was perfect!

He is supposed to be her mentor, but she has a weird habit of giving too much personal information. It devastated Jen when she realizes she has been texting a local lawyer instead of God. Gabe comes face to face with himself, not liking the man he has become. How will things turn out when Jen and Gabe meet?

I found The Text God a book I did not want to put down. Whitney Dineen and Melanie Summers team up to write a fantastic chick-lit story. This novel has a minor resemblance to the popular movie, You’ve Got Mail, starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Jen and Gabe are texting back and forth, without knowing the actual identity of the person they are texting. The story flips from Jen to Gabe, giving the reader an in-depth view of their feelings as their relationship develops. This novel gives you optimistic hope in dreams and goals that are just out of grasp. I hung onto every word as the drama unfolded and their visions were rewarded.
