The Sturm Awakens is a work of fiction in the fantasy, action, and adventure subgenres, and is the opening novel in The Last Battlefield for Light and Darkness saga. The work is suitable for the general adult reading audience and contains moderate scenes of fantasy violence. Penned by author Marvin North, readers are invited to discover a world plunged into chaos as Darkness and Light vie for dominance, leaving Antorris corrupted and overrun by monstrous beings. Inos Sevrence, a Corruption Hunter, battles these afflictions, empowered by the very darkness she fights against. When she encounters an amnesiac boy with unique magic abilities, they join forces against the Corruption.
Author Marvin North has crafted a superb novel packed with intrigue and pacy twists from start to finish, and I can’t think of a better way to launch readers into a new series than with such a rush of inventive and immersive fantasy. Through this detailed and intricate world-building and a cast of compelling, energetic characters, North immerses us in a thrilling tale where we can feel every visceral moment of struggle and heartache, which only endears us more and more to the heroes and their against-the-odds fight for success. I loved the dialogue, which served to perfectly characterize the attitudes of this new world, and also moved the plot and emotional dynamics forward realistically. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend The Sturm Awakens to fans of fantasy, adventure, and cosmic conflict who want a gripping narrative that keeps them on the edge of their seats from cover to cover.
