Let's meet the snowman in the story The Snowman That Wanted to Play by Warona Van Dam. He had to start by putting himself together. First, he found a carrot; then he found himself a hat and a body. Then he got his two arms and found himself two boots. Finally, he was ready to play and he slid down the mountain. Then he had a snowball fight, and played hide and seek. He had fun making snow angels and a skipping rope out of snowballs. Then the sun came and it was very hot. The snowman started melting. First he lost his carrot, then his hat, and in the end, what was left was just his boots. There is nothing to worry about. We all know the snowman will be back next winter.
The Snowman That Wanted to Play by Warona Van Dam is adorable and captures the essence and beauty of the winter season when everyone enjoys making a snowman. The illustrations bring the snowman to life and give him a personality of his own. I am sure young readers would want to do the same things the snowman does while playing outside.
