The Silver Woman of Fire: Gather Your Nerve and Live by Elizabeth Upton is a thought-provoking collection of realistic and reflective insights. There are twenty-four chapters in this book with titles like To Be Real, The Soul of Life - Your Imagination, Laughter Can Save Your Life, Sometimes We Need to Cry, Wisdom Grows Beyond Age, and Gather Your Nerve and Live. Every chapter starts with a short anecdote that briefly introduces the topic and presents a visual image that encourages readers to pause for a while and listen to their hearts and minds. At the end is Singing My Song In the Morning Sun, a touching ballad dedicated to the silver woman of fire that we should find in all of us.
Elizabeth Upton’s The Silver Woman of Fire is a highly inspiring book that should appeal to all readers. It encourages us to stop and feel at peace. In a world where everything seems to move at a fast pace and where we are pushed in many directions, it is easy to feel confused, hopeless, discouraged, and burned out. Here is a book that teaches us to slow down long enough to realize that no matter how life may seem unfair and difficult, we can always gather our strength and live. I liked the book’s formatting with paragraphs of just a sentence or two because it emphasizes what the author wants to say. With prose bordering on poetry, this motivational book offers significant insights into how to calm our spirit so that we can put things in perspective and handle all the challenges that life sends our way.
