The Sands of Akhirah is the second book of The Valor of Valhalla series by Martin Kearns and Angela Traficante. Still grieving over the loss of Rose, David embarks on a quest through the deserts of the Middle East, which brings him to a man with plans of his own. On this journey, he also encounters his estranged father, who gives him quite a lesson on how to fulfill his potential and use his powers to the fullest. Meanwhile, Rose is on a journey as well with the Valkyrie, trying to make her way back to the real world. Chelsea and Dodd stumble upon an unexpected evil that threatens to wreak havoc in the world. Can David and his friends prevail against this new threat and face up against Lilith's children?
An action-packed tale featuring demons, angels, and the eternal battle between good and evil, The Sands of Akhirah covers every aspect of an ideal fantasy novel. This installment follows David as he grows into his powers and develops into a young man able to withstand the responsibility of saving the world. Both David and Rose have their own journeys they must navigate as they evolve into mature young adults who accept and embrace their destinies. The plot moves at a brisk pace, and you find yourself wanting more as the pages head to the end. Authors Martin Kearns and Angela Traficante do a phenomenal job of building a fantastical world inspired by Norse mythology that still feels fresh and unique. Highly recommended.
