Through "enhanced decision-making", Dr. Helen McKibben shares her new psychological technique for dealing with stress in her book Drop: Making Great Decisions. Dr. McKibben shows readers how to "rewire" their brains to change their reactions to certain negative stimuli. The author mentions the book is a companion to an audiobook, and she delivers examples from real people who have used her "drop" method. Dr. McKibben discusses how to "drop" into a neutral position, and her approach with someone who suffers from an addiction and eating and sleep disorders. The text details an effective way to interact with others, illustrating a new perspective on dating, showing examples of low and high self-esteem, and assisting athletes who are concerned about failure.
By putting Dr. Helen McKibben's advice into practice, you will be more consistent and confident about your reactions. Using studies in neuroscience and her thirty-five years as a clinical therapist, Dr. McKibben does more than provide a quick fix to a response to an event. Her work helps readers understand their feelings and address the root cause. I have a child who has been diagnosed with ADHD, so Dr. McKibben's section on parenting was particularly helpful for me. I was able to put her suggestions in place the same day I read them, and it resulted in a more harmonious environment. If you're ready to learn how to effectively work through your emotions when you are triggered, and maintain a calmer attitude, you will benefit from reading Drop: Making Great Decisions.
