The Ice Bridge by Kathryn Meyer Griffith is a gripping murder mystery. Charlotte has come back to Mackinac Island, back to her Aunt Bess, after her fiancé runs off with her best friend. When the summer tourists have gone, Mackinac closes and the only way on and off the island is the ice bridge that forms over the Straits. Her aunt has her own heartaches to heal and Charlotte wants to help her, as well as renewing her friendship with Hannah. Getting to know Mac, the island police officer, Charlotte settles in to write a book about the island’s ghosts and enjoy life, until Hannah disappears, falling through the ice into the waters below. It isn’t an accident and Charlotte and Mac need to prove that, but things are hotting up as they get closer to the truth. All of a sudden, Bess and Charlotte find themselves in the cross hairs. Can they solve this mystery before more lives are lost?
The Ice Bridge by Kathryn Meyer Griffith is a great story, one that grips you from the first page. I was hooked as the story turned from a simple girl-goes-home, girl-meets-boy story into a horrific murder mystery. This is an incredibly well written story from one of the best authors I have read in many years. This story doesn’t disappoint, packed with action and lots of twists and turns that took me on a hair-raising journey on a race against time. I loved the way the characters were developed, in a way that made me feel like I knew them all. Ms. Griffiths has a very descriptive way with words that brings a story to life and I would recommend this book to all murder mystery lovers.
