Samantha Wolf is back and she and her friends are getting into more trouble in The Haunting of Eagle Creek Middle School by Tara Ellis. Now that the mystery at Covington Ranch has been solved and Cassie has been reunited with her sister, things have slowly returned to normal - well, as normal as things can be when Sam and her friends are around! Electing to host a haunted house at the school to raise funds for an after-school program, Sam, Ally and Cassie soon discover a ghost and a deadly secret. A secret that they can't share with anyone, or risk hurting innocent people. When Hunter and John (Sam and Ally's brothers) take them for an afternoon drive, they stumble on something that makes Sam's heart beat faster. They have a mystery! Suddenly, their assumptions become solid clues. Clues that Sam simply can't ignore ... only can she and her friends solve the mystery without getting hurt or hurting those involved?
In this story reminiscent of a Trixie Belden mystery, I felt like I was transported back in time, but with new characters and modern issues as I read the fifth Samantha Wolf Mystery. I loved the book! My only complaint is it was written in present tense. It took a long time for me to adjust to reading a whole book in present tense and made me wonder how a less experienced reader would fare. That being said, the author did an amazing job at keeping to her chosen tense. In all, I enjoyed reading The Haunting of Eagle Creek Middle School by Tara Ellis very much and would consider reading more Samantha Wolf Mysteries.
